Is the Joe Biden for President Campaign About to Collapse?

RedState has an interesting article based on a tweet by Dan Bongino, former police officer, former Secret Service agent, and current Fox News contributor and radio talk show host. He claims to have heard from inside sources that Joe Biden’s cognitive decline has accelerated and has become increasingly difficult to mask.

Currently, the Democrats seem to be trying to brazen it out and worry about the fact that their candidate is unable to be president after he is elected to that office. Presumably, the 25th Amendment would be invoked and whomever Team Biden chooses as a vice presidential running mate would ascend to the top job. The American people, no doubt peeved at the bait and switch, could just pound sand for all the Democrats care. They are going to be even angrier anyway when the Green New Deal and Medicare for All are rammed through Congress and signed into law.

But let us say that President Donald Trump continues to close the gap in the polls. One poll already has Trump pulling ahead both nationally and in certain swing states. Is the poll an outlier, or is it picking something up that most other polls are missing?

Democrats and their minions in the press are already calling on Biden to skip the debates. They say that Trump should not be given a national platform for his “lies.” But if Bongino is right, the real reason Biden would skip the debates is that the Democrats are afraid that the president will pull Biden apart like warm bread. A bad debate performance would seal any candidate’s fate. Just ask Michael Dukakis.

The boys and girls in the backrooms of the Democratic Party would then reach the inevitable conclusion that it’s time to put Joe Biden out to pasture and replace him with someone else. But who then becomes the Democrats’ presidential candidate?

At this point, Bernie Sanders raises his hand and reminds everyone who cares that he came in second during the primaries and therefore deserves the top spot by right. After all, all the country needs is an aging socialist whose young acolytes can be seen tossing gasoline bombs against federal buildings and brawling with law enforcement.

The boys and girls in the backrooms of the Democratic Party respond, “Thank you, but no.” The quickest path to being blown out with a 50-state landside is to run Sanders on the top of the ticket. Then Bernie has the choice between being a good soldier or taking his ball and bat and going third party, even if he has to do a write-in campaign in states with sore loser laws.

But if not Bernie, then who? Some have suggested New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. But Cuomo can be argued to have been responsible for the deaths of 6,000 senior citizens when he put coronavirus patients into nursing homes.

One of the other also-rans? People like Kamala Harris and Beto O’Rourke were also-rans against Joe Biden for a reason. They are terrible campaigners and arguably terrible people.

At that point, chaos rules the Democratic Party as its hopes of taking power collapse into ruin. Trump regards this development as further proof that the good Lord is on his side,

An improbable scenario? Come on. It’s 2020, man, as Biden might say. Anything is possible.
